Hi all, I found this at a known and fairly large battle site, it was actually the most important bridge in the state during the CW,
it was burned by Sanders and rebuilt by the confederates, anyhoo, it was 5 " deep in the field there are no obvious pin or shaft remnants or holes it is rounded on one side and flat on the other as seen in pic
obviously looks like a "latch" the first thing I thought when I dug it was "number 1"
Im hoping for someone who has seen one of these or actually knows what it is...
