I did not know what to make of this strange bullet with the zinc base insert but found out what is was in no time searching on the internet.
I appears to be a Williams type three cleaner round that was used by the union army. this piece of land has never been hunted before as its was a dense forest before my boss purchased it and cleared out the trash trees put in a pond  fed by the creek that was probably the unions water supply.
Would it be reasonable to assume that finding this type of round that was often discarded by the soldiers indicate that a camp had been set up there in that area. I have also found pieces of lead, buck shot broke in half and have detected iron targets that were deep but I did not dig them up.
give me a holler and let me know what you guys think.

Williams cleaner bullet is a good find. I would search the area very hard. It could be just a drop from moving over the area or you could be close to a camp. Congrats on your find let us know what else turns up.

I found a 50 year old axe head that had been broke and was high carbon and highly rusted. proves its age dont it
but that is all I found.
I was told that when Sherman and his army of happy campers came through here you could see them march for 2 solid days.
they took all they could take and killed everything else.
they named the road campground road because they stayed there according to Sally Sharpe who lives on land that her ancesters got from the king of england back in the 18th century
