3/8/009
I decided to do some of the large field that I cut in the summer.
I found three nice buttons of different sizes.
The large button has the word GILT on the back.
Does anyone know anything about this button?

Great finds!

The button looks to say "Treble Gilt" and that makes it a 1800's
button. Congrats and keep at that site looks to be promising!

thanks for identifying the button.
did that not mean that it was gold plated?
and also this is a large field and I might decide to form a posse of metal men who want to help me tackle this field with added gusto.
there is an old well surrounded by 3 trees and the well looks like it has had dirt thrown into it or trash but hey we have a back hoe on the site that will be perfect for reaching down into the old well as deep as we can reach to bring up what ever treasure might lie beneath.
here is a close up of the second largest button. Can anyone tell me what it says?
all mates interested in going on a hunt at this site send me an note of interest and I will get approval from me boss man.
might make it happen this Saturday.

You might have to clean that button up a bit to get more out of it. I can see what looks to be the word COLOUR and possibly GILT. There is a bunch of different variations of flat buttons with the word COLOUR on them.

If I was in S.C. I'd be there Sat. Sad [/list]
