March 28th, 2009 - Small to LargeGot out with Brian for a full day of relic hunting. We worked a site that we have hit before. It's a HEAVILY wooded area with fallen timber, briers, vines, ticks, etc.
We worked hard for the small amount of relics that were produced, but just getting outdoors is a huge enough reward!
Anywho, here are the finds:
-2 small round balls that go to a Buck-and-Ball
-.44 Caliber Colt Revolver bullet
-.54 Caliber Merrill Carbine bullet
-.54 Caliber 3-Ring Minie-Ball(Northern Manufacture)
-.54 Caliber Gardner Patent bullet
(sources cited from the 19th Century Bullet Collection website: http://www.baymediapro.com/collection/bullet_search.asp)
Happy Hunting, guys!

Glad you were able to get out Ian...Any hunt is a winner if I can find a bullet. I had rather find a buckle or button, but a bullet is all it takes to make me smile....Congrats on your hunt!

not highjacking the thread at all! Just adding to it!
Love the bullets. I think the Merrill's come out of there looking a little dark because aren't they wrapped in gun powder with a paper wrapper?
