I have a shiny new SE Pro on the way, along with the X-1 Probe.
For years ( since about 1987 when I got my first machine ) I have been a Garrett user, and wandered around behind my Master Hunter 5 or the newer GTP 1350 and never really found anything of interest except clad coins and junk, and none of that over about 4 " deep. Enter the Excalibur2. All of a sudden, I am hitting things that the Garrett just wouldn't see no matter what I set the sensitivity to, or how big of a coil I used.
Not to get too long winded, but I took the 1350, Excal2, and the GF's Ace 250 out to a tomato farm in Ripley Tn, yes, I brought a pocket knife and some salt... anyway, I used the Excal2 and found the weakest signal I could get reliably in PP, (and it was an easy hit for it), then tried to get it in descrim (set to 0) no hit. I then tried the 1350 and Ace, also no hit no matter what. The target turned out to be a piece of canfetti 1" X 3/4" up ended at 8". Then for grins, I repeated the test using only the Garrett's on shallower targets they could find, and found that the two machines are IDENTICAL for depth under the conditions of that field, so if you are considering either of thease machines, and profiling isn't worth $400 to you, get the Ace!!
After this test, I gave the 1350 away, mostly because I was pretty disgusted with it wondering what I have gone over in the past, and ordered the Explorer SE Pro from a fella that got it a week before the E-trac came out.... that saved me $400 since he had to have the top of the line.
I am getting ready for some serious relic hunting on a CW hospital site a mile and a half from a small battle site (1CS KIA and 18US KIA) and didn't even want to think about what was down there at 5" I was missing!! HH Joe

I've never used a SE Pro, but have heard very good things about them.
I know a guy close to me that uses one and has dug some very good
civil war relics with it. He told me it has a bit of a learning curve, but he
wouldn't use anything else. Good luck and let us know how it works for you.
