Ok, originally what was thought to be possibly a maple tree tap turns out to be a Civil War Era Tent rope tensioner  Shocked Shocked Grin Grin

Seems this is my best find of the weekend and quite a shock! I think someone else there had found one of these also.

REALLY NICE FIND SNOOP CONGRATS ON THE GRIP OF HISTORY ,LAST GUY TO USE IT MAY NOT HAVE SURVIVED FOR LONG.
