I went back there today and worked on some more of the field.
As you can see my efforts did not go unrewarded.
I found two more of those metal bands with the eyelet on the end and one had a link of the chain stuck in it as you can see.
I dont know how old those shoe taps are and that big thingy looks alike a breast plate for a horse bridal but I dont know.

Good finds.  Those metal rings/bands are from an old musket, probably a Enfield.

"How do you know this?" you may ask...

Here is a picture of a Civil War Era Enfield Musketoon.  Take note of the two bands that hold the wood and barrel together.

are those ring bands worth anything?
and what about that piece that looks like a trigger guard.

how about you bring your butterfly coil with you  and you can be the second lucky man to hit this field.
I will trade these ring bands each for a silver dime.

you miss out by being aloof.
That aint the southern way boy.
we got to git together have a catfish fry with some hushpuppies.
I have the fish and the pond. just go to youtube and search for catfish farm.
my screen name is johnnecron. Its the same land where I been finding all these goodies.Without fellowship ,what are we but a bunch of coil swinging hole digging nut jobs Rolling Eyes
