I found this at a Union encampment...A battle did take place here as well. I have posted this on two forums, however,  it still hasn't been indentified. I did have a fellow relic hunter post an identical picture of one he found at a CW site in WV.... It's a little larger than a quarter and is about 7/16 wide....I appreciate any input...

Now, this is a wild guess, but it looks like the part of an Oil Lamp where the wick is guided out to catch the flame... Maybe?

I have one of those as well...They seem to be made out of a lighter material. The unidentified piece is pretty heavy....I don't believe they are connected, but maybe they are....Thanks Ian..

Hmmm...   Question

It doesn't look like it's broken off on an edge?  It also looks like a part of a 2 piece buckle....

If it isn't ID'd before too long, I'll throw it on the show and see if someone can ID it then...

Well, this is what I came up with for now,

<br>

WHATEVER this is, something rectangular has been inside at one time and has loosened and been wallowed around like an ill fitting screwdriver would do a flathead fastener.

I just immediately saw scabbard throat or sword pommel OR cap..

I also had a far fetched  Idea  about a broken interior piece of a shell fuze.

just throwin horseshoes, i guess.

I always had the sword idea in mind RadGpz....from the first day I found it.....but I wanted someone else to say it first....That does'nt mean that's what it is, it just means I'm not the only one with that thought in mind....Thanks for looking...
